Halloween in Orlando 2026: Everything You Need to Know

Halloween in Orlando 2026: Everything You Need to Know

Halloween in Orlando is something else entirely, If you've only ever experienced Halloween in the UK, nothing quite prepares you for what Florida does with it. We're talking full park transformations, incredible parades, trick or treat trails, haunted houses, special food and drink, fireworks and so much more. And the brilliant thing is there really is something for every age group, from tiny toddlers to thrill seeking adults. I'm KP, owner of Parkside Strollers, and Halloween in Orlando is genuinely one of my favourite times of year to visit. Here's everything you need to know for 2026!

🎃 Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party (Magic Kingdom)

What Is It?

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, or MNSSHP as the Disney community lovingly calls it, is a separately ticketed evening event held at Magic Kingdom on select nights, It is honestly one of the most magical things you can do in Orlando with children and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

2026 Dates

MNSSHP runs from Friday 7th August through to Saturday 31st October 2026 on select nights. As it's a separate ticket event, the park closes to regular day guests in the early evening and party guests take over. It's worth checking the Disney website for the specific nights as they sell out fast, especially in October!

What's Included?

  • Trick or treat trails throughout the park with sweets and candy at every station, including options for allergies.
  • The spectacular Mickey's Boo-to-You Halloween Parade which runs twice on party nights
  • Special Halloween fireworks show
  • Unique character meet and greets in Halloween costumes that you won't find at any other time of year
  • Special Halloween themed food and drinks throughout the park
  • Shorter queue times as the park is less busy than a regular day

The Trick or Treat Bag Tip!

Disney will provide you with a small cute trick or treat bag on arrival which is a lovely touch. That said, I'd really recommend bringing your own pumpkin bucket or a bigger bag too because the amount of sweets you collect on those trails is genuinely impressive and you'll want the extra space! The kids absolutely love filling them up.

Costume Rules

Adults are allowed to dress up at MNSSHP which is brilliant fun. Disney does have costume guidelines though so it's worth checking their website before you go. No full face masks for adults, nothing too scary and costumes must be family friendly. Children can wear pretty much anything age appropriate and it is the most adorable thing you'll ever see, my favourite has to be crayola crayons as a family option! we also seen the incredibles family dressed up and scooby doo and friends too.

🍷 EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival

What Is It?

While not strictly a Halloween event, the EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival overlaps beautifully with Halloween season and is absolutely worth building into your trip. It's one of EPCOT's most beloved annual events and the atmosphere around World Showcase during this time is just incredible.

2026 Dates

The festival runs from Thursday 27th August through to Saturday 21st November 2026 which means there's a lovely crossover with the Halloween season. You can experience Halloween theming across the resort AND the Food and Wine Festival in the same visit which is brilliant value.

What's Included?

The Food and Wine Festival is included with your regular EPCOT day ticket so there's no extra admission cost. You simply pay for the food and drink as you go around the World Showcase booths. Each booth represents a different country or region and serves small plate portions so you can graze your way around the world. There are also special festival merchandise, cooking demonstrations and live music events throughout the run. Check the Disney socials for which bands are performing this year as the live music lineup is always brilliant!

👻 Halloween Horror Nights (Universal Studios Florida)

What Is It?

Halloween Horror Nights is widely considered one of the best Halloween events in the entire world and having been myself I can absolutely see why. This is NOT for little ones though. It is genuinely terrifying, brilliantly produced and absolutely not suitable for young children. If you're visiting as adults or with older teenagers, it is an unmissable experience.

2026 Dates

Halloween Horror Nights 2026 kicks off on Friday 28th August and runs through to Sunday 1st November on select nights. It's a separately ticketed evening event so you'll need to buy tickets in addition to your regular park admission.

Annual Passholder Perk!

If you're a Universal Annual Passholder, you get one free entry to Halloween Horror Nights included with your pass. This is an incredible perk and well worth knowing about if you're a regular Universal visitor. Make sure to check the blockout dates for your pass level though as some nights may be excluded.

What's Included?

  • Multiple world class haunted houses based on horror films, TV shows and original concepts
  • Scare zones throughout the park where roaming scare actors will genuinely make you jump
  • Special Halloween themed food, drinks and merchandise
  • Live entertainment and shows
  • Most regular Universal rides are still operating during the event

KP's Honest Verdict

If you're going without kids or with older teens who love a scare, absolutely do it. Buy your tickets early as the popular nights sell out well in advance. If you're visiting with young children, give this one a miss and enjoy the daytime parks instead. There's plenty of Halloween fun elsewhere that's much more family friendly!

🌟 EPIC Universe Halloween (Brand New for 2026!)

What's Happening?

EPIC Universe is still in its first year and this will be their very first Halloween season which is incredibly exciting. Details are still being confirmed but there are whispers of special night events potentially on 2nd October and 17th October 2026 so watch this space! Universal knows how to do Halloween better than almost anyone so expectations are very high.

I'll update this post as soon as official details are announced so bookmark this page and check back. If you're planning an October trip to EPIC Universe, it's worth keeping those dates free just in case!

🐋 SeaWorld Orlando Halloween Events

SeaWorld actually runs two separate Halloween events and they cater to completely different audiences which is brilliant. Here's the breakdown.

Halloween Spooktacular (Family Event)

The Halloween Spooktacular is SeaWorld's family friendly daytime Halloween event and it is such a hidden gem. It runs on weekends from late August and the best bit is it's included with your regular park admission so there's no extra ticket cost.

You do pay for a trick or treat bag but once you have it you can go around and get it refilled as many times as you like throughout the day. The kids absolutely love it and it's a brilliant option for families with younger children who aren't ready for the scary evening events. Highly recommended!

Howl-O-Scream (Adult Scare Event)

Howl-O-Scream is SeaWorld's answer to Halloween Horror Nights and it's a brilliant event in its own right. It runs from early September on select nights only and requires a separate ticket on top of regular park admission.

It's often overlooked in favour of Universal's event but it's genuinely worth considering, especially if you want a slightly different experience or if Horror Nights tickets have sold out. Haunted houses, scare zones and a fantastic atmosphere make this a great night out for adults and older teens.

🎃 Top Tips for Halloween in Orlando

Book Early

I cannot stress this enough. The popular MNSSHP nights in October sell out weeks in advance and Halloween Horror Nights on peak nights goes the same way. As soon as dates are released, get your tickets booked. You'll save money too as prices increase as the event gets closer.

Costume Tips

  • Check each park's costume policy before you travel as they all differ slightly
  • Comfortable shoes are an absolute must, you'll be walking miles in costume
  • Consider the Florida heat even in September and October, it can still be very warm in the evenings so lightweight costumes are much more practical
  • Face paint is a great alternative to full masks for adults at Disney events
  • Kids costumes with lots of layers can get very hot so keep it simple and breathable

Trick or Treat Bag Tips

  • Bring your own pumpkin bucket or bag to MNSSHP in addition to the Disney provided bag
  • At SeaWorld Spooktacular, the refillable bag is brilliant value so make the most of it
  • Pack a small cool bag or insulated pouch to keep chocolate from melting in the Florida heat!

☕ Pumpkin Spice Season Has Arrived!

You absolutely cannot do Halloween in Orlando without mentioning the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte. The moment that menu drops it is a genuine event and with Starbucks locations throughout every Disney and Universal park, you are never far from your PSL fix. Warm, spiced and utterly perfect for a cooler October evening in the parks. Treat yourself, you've earned it!

🛒 Disney Springs and World of Disney: Halloween Shopping Heaven

If you haven't built a Disney Springs visit into your trip, now is the time to do it. Disney Springs is free to enter with no park ticket required and during Halloween season it is absolutely magical. Head straight to World of Disney, the largest Disney merchandise store in the world, for the full 2026 Halloween collection.

The Halloween merch at World of Disney is genuinely something special and it sells out fast. The light up pumpkins are an absolute must and I say this every year but they are even better in person than they look online. The Halloween door wreaths are another one to grab early as they fly off the shelves. Whether you're shopping for the kids, for your home or just for yourself (no judgement here!), set aside a good chunk of time and budget because you will want everything. You have been warned!

👶 Stroller Tips for Halloween Nights

Halloween evenings in Orlando mean darker parks, bigger crowds and later nights for little ones. Here are my stroller tips specifically for the Halloween season from Parkside Strollers!

  • Light up your stroller! As the evenings get darker it's really important to make your stroller visible in busy parks. Clip on flashing flags, wrap LED fairy lights around the frame, attach glow sticks to the canopy or go all out with Halloween themed decorations that double up as safety lights. It looks brilliant and keeps your little one safe
  • A lit up and decorated stroller is also much easier to spot in busy stroller parking areas, especially when cast members have moved them around
  • Bring a light blanket or muslin for later in the evening as it does cool down after dark in September and October
  • Pack extra snacks and drinks in the stroller basket for little ones who might be flagging later in the evening
  • An AirTag in the stroller is always a good idea but especially on busy Halloween party nights
  • Rain covers are worth having to hand as Florida evenings can bring unexpected showers even in autumn

💰 Is It Worth the Extra Cost? KP's Honest Verdict

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

100% yes if you're visiting with children. The parade alone is worth the ticket price and the trick or treat experience is something they will talk about for years. Try to go on a less popular night earlier in September for lower prices and smaller crowds.

Halloween Horror Nights

Absolutely yes for adults and older teens who love Halloween. It's world class entertainment. Not worth it at all for families with young children though so be honest about your group before buying tickets.

SeaWorld Halloween Spooktacular

Brilliant value because it's included in your regular admission. The trick or treat bag cost is very reasonable for what you get. A great addition to a SeaWorld day especially if you're visiting with little ones.

SeaWorld Howl-O-Scream

Worth it if you want a slightly different scare experience to Horror Nights or if you're already SeaWorld fans. Often less crowded than Horror Nights too which is a bonus.

EPCOT Food and Wine Festival

Included in your regular ticket so it's a no brainer. Even if you just graze on a few dishes around World Showcase it adds a brilliant extra dimension to your EPCOT day. Budget a little extra for food and drink and enjoy every bite!

EPIC Universe Halloween

Watch this space! Once the full details are confirmed I'll give you my honest verdict. Based on what EPIC Universe has delivered in its first year, I have very high hopes indeed.
