April is Here 🌞 and So is the Heat!
Spring is in full swing, thankfully as it's BEEN COLD 🥶 and the temperatures are already climbing! Whether you're planning a trip to Disney World or just looking for a fun local day out, we've got you covered with the best ways to keep your little ones cool and happy this season.
Free Water Splash Pads 💦 For Our Visiting Families!
If you're visiting the Orlando area and looking for some free splash pad fun outside of the parks, here are two fantastic spots to check out:
- Disney Springs Splash Pad — Yes, really! Disney Springs has a brilliant free splash pad area that's perfect for little ones to cool off. No park ticket needed, just turn up and splash! Great for an evening visit after a long park day.
- Celebration Splash Pad, Celebration, FL — Just a short drive from Disney World, the town of Celebration has a lovely free splash pad area. It's a charming spot with a real community feel, a great little escape from the busy parks, also grab some ice-cream, coffee, snacks, even a doggie shop with yummy treats!
🚗 Both spots are stroller friendly, so wheel on up with your Parkside Stroller and let the kiddos go wild!
🏰 Staying Cool at Disney World
Disney World in April can get warm, but the magic doesn't have to stop! Here are the best ways to beat the heat at the parks:
- Splash zones at Typhoon Lagoon & Blizzard Beach — Disney's water parks are the ultimate cool-down destination, perfect for families with little ones, and generally included in some park tickets.
- Moana's Journey of Water — EPCOT — This stunning walk through experience at EPCOT is inspired by the film and features beautiful water installations and interactive water jets that kids absolutely love. It's magical AND cooling, and the kiddos can get soaked, so bring a change of clothing and a towel, just pop it in the bottom of a stroller, or backpack!
- Splash Area outside Test Track — EPCOT — Just outside the Test Track attraction in EPCOT, there's a fun splash area that little ones love to run through, it's not huge but perfect place to cool off. Top tip: bring a towel and a change of clothes — they WILL get soaked and they will have zero regrets about it!
- Tomorrowland misting fans — Look out for misting stations throughout the parks, they're a lifesaver on hot days, lots of the parks including Universal are adding more and more, so make the most of them yourself too.
- Cool off in air-conditioned attractions — Rides like "It's a Small World", the Carousel of Progress, and the Hall of Presidents are great for a cool break, oh and the best air conditioned ride has to be..."Men in Black", do you agree? If you have one let us know!
- Visit early or late — The hottest part of the day is typically 2pm to 4pm, with 3pm boiling, so plan water rides and indoor attractions during this window.
- Frozen treats! — Dole Whip, Mickey ice cream bars, and frozen lemonade are must-haves for staying cool.
🚺 Remember: Disney World is stroller friendly! A good stroller is essential for little ones who need a shaded rest between adventures. Check out our range of lightweight, sun-canopy strollers perfect for theme park days, also bring your flags, lights to decorate the strollers so you can spot which one's yours!
Pack Smart for Hot (and Slightly Unpredictable!) Days
Whether you're hitting a splash pad or heading to the parks, here's a quick checklist for a cool, comfortable day out:
- ✅ Sunscreen (SPF 50+ for little ones)
- ✅ Reusable water bottles, everywhere in Disney and more so Universal you can grab free water, and Universal has the best tasting free water, but we have found a gem of a spot in MAGIC KINGDOM, Pinocchios, the water in there 10/10, the rest of the park we usually ask at Starbucks!
- ✅ Towel and a change of clothes (non-negotiable if you're hitting the EPCOT splash area! and also Magic Kingdom's Casey Jr. Splash 'N' Soak Station)
- ✅ Lightweight, breathable clothing
- ✅ A stroller with a UV-protective canopy
- ✅ Snacks to keep energy up
- ✅ A portable fan or misting bottle, or those cooling towels
- ✅ A spare pair of footwear — and yes, we're serious about this one! April in Florida is warming up beautifully, but let's not forget... it's also April shower season. One minute it's glorious sunshine, the next you're paddling down Main Street USA in what used to be your favourite trainers. Pack a spare pair of shoes or sandals and thank us later! 💟🌧️😂
